Revo 2.5TFSI RS3(8V)/TT RS (8S) DAZA/DNWA Turbo Inlet Pipe
2.5 TFSI Audi RS3 (8V.2) & TTRS (8S)
Get impressive performance benefits from your 2.5 TFSI engine with the Revo Turbocharger inlet pipe. Replacing the restrictive component with a precisely engineered inlet pipe allows your turbo to breathe freely whilst reducing turbulence and heat transfer.
The 2.5 TFSI engine found in the RS3 8V.2 and TTRS 8S is capable of incredible power gains even with the stock turbocharger. Whilst the stock inlet is fine for stock power, once you start increasing this performance the stock inlet pipe becomes a restriction to airflow and holds back the potential gains. With the Revo turbocharger inlet pipe upgrade, you can achieve maximum performance, due to unique design features and Zirotec © heat-reflective coating. The Revo kit includes a silicone coupler from the inlet to fit onto the Revo Carbon Series Intake and a precision-machined turbo collar at the other end to match the inlet diameter of the stock turbocharger.
Key Features
- Reduces airflow restriction by an average of 20%
- True 4″ inlet diameter
- Zircotec© heat-reflective ceramic coating
- RHD and LHD fitment
- Full cast aluminium precision machined
AIRFLOW
The main design focus of the Revo turbocharger inlet pipe was to increase the internal volume and increase the airflow directly into the turbo. The data gained from extensive testing of the stock part showed that increasing the inlet size to 4” and maintaining that internal cross-sectional area throughout as much of the pipe as possible produced significant airflow increases and subsequent performance gains on the 2.5 TFSI platform.
DESIGN
As with every Revo hardware part, the Revo design balances overall size increase and fitment within the available engine bay volume. The Revo pipe size is designed to maximise internal volume whilst maintaining fitment for both LHD and RHD vehicles. The Revo turbocharger inlet pipe utilises a clever geometry design to expand the internal volume to ensure external part clearance and offers a smooth and tapered internal route for airflow to the turbocharger.
THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Another unique design feature of the Revo turbocharger inlet pipe is the part’s thermal management properties, which address heat issues that are often associated with the 2.5 TSFI engine. The Zircotec © coating used is a ceramic/metal hybrid mixture with superior thermal resistance properties reducing heat absorption and preventing loss of performance. Insulating the Revo pipe on all sides with this coating aids this thermal management from both direct exhaust manifold radiative heat as well as general engine bay heat reflected onto the pipe.
PCV ROUTING
Another aspect of increasing the airflow capability of the Revo inlet pipe is removing the internal flow destabilization geometry on the stock part caused by the internal PCV routing. To remove this restriction the Revo inlet includes an external PCV system that routes around the exterior of the pipe, without affecting the internal geometry and allowing the smoothest internal airflow possible.
All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer and 3D scanner, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo turbocharger inlet pipe allows the turbo to run more efficiently, ingesting a larger volume of air and minimising turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing.
PERFORMANCE DATA
Back-to-back testing of the stock turbocharger inlet system and the Revo turbocharger inlet system was carried out with an Audi RS3 (8V.2 non-GPF Model) using Revo Stage 2 ECU Software, the Revo Carbon intake system, the Revo Intercooler, and a Milltek Downpipe. The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range. The Revo turbocharger inlet kit offered an average gain of +15WHP and +23NM torque over the stock inlet system. The increased airflow and improved thermal management of the Revo kit also delivers an impressive peak performance gain of +23.5WHP@4400rpm and +38NM @4400RPM over the stock inlet system.
AIRFLOW
Testing of the stock inlet system back-to-back against the Revo inlet kit and Carbon Series intake on a full flow bench was carried out to highlight the restrictions in the systems. The Revo Turbocharger Inlet pipe had far less restriction than the OE unit, at 600CFM the stock pipe produced 955mmwg restriction while the Revo unit only produced 800mmwg at the same airflow volume, some 16% less restriction. At lower airflow rates the Revo intake provided up to 62% less restriction, indicating improved throttle response as a result. This graph shows the flow test and comparison between the OE and Revo inlets and systems.
INLET TEMPERATURE
This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the 2.5 TFSI turbocharger inlet was performed in a controlled manner, by using a thermocouple and associated logging hardware/software to show that the air temperatures going into the testing vehicle’s airbox were similar for each test. This data serves to confirm that the performance gains seen in the above graph are from the Revo turbocharger inlet system and not due to temperature differences between testing configurations. As can be seen from the graph, the temperature of the air being ingested by the vehicle throughout both testing setups remained similar (within 2°C – 3°C). Despite the temperature being slightly higher on the Revo intake tests and giving a slight disadvantage to the Revo turbocharger inlet system during testing, the full Revo intake kit still produced exceptional power gains over the stock turbocharger intake setup, solidifying the effectiveness of the Revo inlet kit’s increased airflow and thermal management capabilities at increasing engine performance on a Revo-tuned 8V.2 /8S 2.5TFSI.
