The Revo open cone Air Intake System for the VW Polo GTI AW 2.0T EA888 Gen3b engine improves performance and offers an aggressive intake sound. Ensuring your engine can get access to enough air is paramount when increasing power; more air means more power throughout the rev range.

Engineered to directly replace the stock airbox, pipework and filter, this kit comes complete with a front silicone hose, rear silicone hose, heat shield, filter, turbo inlet and fitting kit.

OEM vs Revo
When you begin to enhance performance, the restrictive OEM intake struggles to flow enough air, robbing the engine of power. The Revo Air Intake System removes these restrictive elements promoting smoother airflow. Open Cone systems replace the OEM air box to make space for the heat shield, filter and pipework which joins directly to the turbo. Revo Flush Fit silicone hoses avoid unwanted turbulence at joins and increase the rate at which air can flow ensuring maximum performance at any level of tuning.
Silicone Hoses
No detail has been overlooked when reducing restrictions within the stock airflow system. The stock corrugated plastic hose is replaced with a smooth silicone one, reducing air turbulence and increasing air volume and speed. A four-ply construction with an internal wire helix increases strength to prevent collapsing under pressure. Internal steps flush fit against the stock MAF sensor and the Revo turbo inlet, creating a smooth transition between components and ensuring the smoothest airflow.
Turbocharger Inlet
The Revo machined inlet replaces the restrictive elbow found on MQB vehicles fitted with the transverse 2.0T EA888 Gen3B engine variants. The machined billet aluminium inlet securely fits the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. The internal bell mouth structure of the upgraded inlet further aids the design of the Revo hose, as the bell mouth allows for a smooth airflow transition from a large cross-sectional area to a smaller one (turbo), within a small physical space. Air can then stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo. Removing the internal steps between components further ensures uninterrupted airflow and removes any unnecessary turbulence.
Air Filter
An intake system is only as good as the filter. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently from conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through. The spun base of the filter offers a smooth radius aluminium bell mouth, specifically designed for optimum airflow from the filter to pipe-work.
Heatshield
Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses stock mounting points to provide an easy and secure installation.
Research and Development
All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, the latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled dyno testing.
The Revo VW Polo GTI AW open cone air intake system was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the Volkswagen OEM intake. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM intake with Revo software, the Revo intake was then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of increasing airflow and speed.
Performance Data
The results show improvement throughout the whole rev range, but especially towards the top end of the rev range. The Revo intake offers an average gain of +10WHP, and +19NM torque over the stock part. Increased airflow also delivers impressive peak performance gains of +14WHP @5000rpm and +26NM @2900RPM over the stock intake system.
